Instructions for use of WITTNER® Metronomes with and without bell

During transport, the winding key is located on the bottom of case.

Not suitable for children under 36 months due to small pieces which may present a choking hazard.

WITTNER® Metronomes are made to WITTNER® patents and incorporating over 100 years of experience.

WITTNER® Maelzel Metronomes have a solid spring, therefore you may wind up the clockwork until you feel a resistance.

When in use, place your metronome on a horizontal surface. lt will then tick regularly.
To start the metronome just give the pendulum a little push – the pendulum must not be bent to the side till its limit.

WITTNER® Metronomes with bell have the advantage of indicating 2/4, 3/4, 4/4 and 6/8 time (beat/rhythm).
The mechanism for this purpose should be set to the required time by pulling or pushing the push/pull knob.
The figures on the slide 2–3–4–6 denote the before-mentioned times. The figure which is nearest the side of the case indicates the time marked out by the bell.
Only move the bell slide with the metronome in motion and ensure that it engages at the correct time. When the bell slide is pushed right in, the metronome will only tick to the metronome tempi.

lmportant: Wind up the metronome only immediately before use. Don’t keep it for a longer time in fully wound-up condition. Thus the service life of the main spring will be increased considerably.

General features: The metronome serves to denote the tempo at which a musical composition is to be performed. The metronome tempo is specified at the beginning of a musical composition.
For 80 =𝅘𝅥 for example, the shifting weight on pendulum is raised till the upper edge of weight is in exact alignment with the line marked 80 on the scale. Then set the pendulum in motion.
After movement has become regular, each beat is equal to one quarter note (crotched) for the respective musical composition.
With the musical composition marked 80 =𝅗𝅥 each pendulum movement indicates a half note (minim).

Indications of beats according to tempo:

Largo 40–60
Larghetto 60–66
Adagio 66–76
Andante 76–108
Moderato 108–120
Allegro 120–168
Presto 168–200
Prestissimo 200–208
